Education Corporation of America Empowers Students with Phoenix NAP’s VMware-based Cloud Infrastructure

Phoenix NAP is an official partner of VMware, dedicated to empowering customers with VMware’s cloud-based infrastructure. As a full service data center, leading international IaaS provider and primary network access point (NAP), they are forging the path for innovative and unique IT products, services and solutions.

Education Corporation of America (ECA) are leveraging Phoenix NAP’s cloud-based data center to improve the educational experience of students. ECA schools are institutions of higher education operating private, accredited colleges across the USA. ECA is dedicated to providing quality programs which integrate curriculum with professional skill development, allowing students to achieve their lifelong personal and professional goals.

With Phoenix NAP’s cloud-based services, powered by VMware, resources and applications that were previously only available through traditional brick-and-mortar locations are now accessible for remote students. Andrew Quinn, Director of IT Operations at ECA stated that the “big business driver” behind their adoption of Phoenix NAP was “availability.”

The technology “doubled our geographic footprint, our population, and our IT footprint from a staffing perspective, didn’t grow at that same clip as our business expanded. We’re a pretty small IT shop, and we quickly got to the realization that it wasn’t feasible to try and attempt to do this by ourselves.”

Previously, Quinn and his IT team were relying on tired, on-premise backup solutions, but started to see gaps. There were also fears surrounding data protection – but these were eradicated by Phoenix NAP’s Data Security Cloud.

Other benefits included increased resource availability, plus access to an educated and skilled technical workforce in the markets where ECA schools are located.

Now ECA can provide a highly reliable and secure user experience for thousands of students due to their new scalable, cloud-first infrastructure – all made possible by Phoenix NAP’s virtual private data center, powered by VMware.
